BIO

From Wikipedia: Volakis is willing do anything to get the job, including acts of dishonesty. This is first seen when she convinces a group of applicants to quit, rather than be humiliated by House. She later admits it was a ruse. She is subsequently referred to as "Cutthroat Bitch" and "Bitch" throughout the season. She frequently coerced Chase and Cameron, now reassigned to different departments of the hospital, into helping her. Her persistence and unorthodox approaches initially win her praise, but she is ultimately eliminated because House feels she cannot accept being wrong; something he says she'd need to be able to accept on a regular basis if she were to work for him. Amber was #24 in House's competition for his new team.

cutthroatbitch: It was only a matter of weeks. But it was enough to get a taste of the sheer rush of the thrill and chase that is Diagnostic Medicine. I would’ve done anything to get that position. I did do any and all things he asked, although perhaps not in the standard conventional way my competitors resorted to. I mean, please. It’s not like I killed a dying man’s dog or electrocuted myself (twice) with the defibrillator. I was there to win, not to make friends. I don’t need friends, I need to succeed and I’ll do anything it takes.

Nice and simpering makes me want to vomit. It gets you nowhere but walked all over and surrounded by equally as nauseating people as yourself. It also makes you lose sight of the bigger picture and forget that life is nothing but a competition. House knew this. It was why he pitched us against each other in a Survivor-esque battle of wills and determination. I had both and I wasn’t afraid to use them.

But I also wasn’t willing to walk around in arse-hugging tight pants making pouty faces at House. Monkey see, monkey do. Thirteen or whatever the hell she wants to refer to herself as got the job by emulating Cameron. As if it wasn’t as plain as day to see that. Taub and Kutner got the other two positions because they were idiots. House has a love-hate relationship with idiots. He hates them, but loves to make them do further idiotic things. House loads the gun and likes to sit back and watch other people shoot it. Of course, you will always have an advantage with House if you grab the gun, load it, and shoot it yourself. It all depends where you aim and what target you hit as to whether he will want to bother with you again. Conformists bore him, and idiots amuse him. Sounds like the spice of life to me.

I still don’t know why he fired me. I just know I wanted to kick his cane out from under him when he did. And that was just the start of it. Still, I don’t take things lying down. Although, at the end of the day, it all depends who you’re lying with…

PERSONALITY: Amber is every bit the essence of her nickname, Cutthroat Bitch. She will do whatever it takes to succeed and not always by innocent tactics. She comes across as arrogant and self-preserving and has even been referred to as a female version of House. However, this persona does only seem to be exhibited in situations where she feels she has to succeed and not fail, most likely in her professional setting as a doctor. The fact she is a successful doctor can not be discounted and clearly she got to where she is by much hard work rather than manipulating people’s responses for her own gain. She is a competent doctor and this is evidenced by almost making it to the finish line in House’s competition to find his new team.

With people she knows and is familiar with (and even more so with people she likes), Amber is caring, loyal and trustworthy. Although House wanted to believe the start of her relationship with Wilson was nothing more than dirty tactics to get back at him for firing her, she actually has found deep feelings for the loveable Oncologist and really just wished House would get lost and leave them to it.

STATE OF THE MUSE (POST HOUSE, M.D. SEASON 4)

Recently, I've had so much fun playing Amber over at

etrelibre_rpg that I have decided to reprise her as a muse. I found it difficult to find her voice after her death, but the RPG has helped me find it again with a vengeance and I would like to explore writing her more.

This posed the dilemma of how do I write a dead muse? With some help of a couple of my RP buddies, the answer came to me - she's going to be basically a ghost for anything post her death.

Amber will have three verses:

- One, her

headtrauma_rpg verse. This is solely a House, M.D. post-season 4 AU RPG that Amber is part of. She will occasional write prompts and make posts to her journal stemming from this verse, where she survived the bus crash and now works at Princeton Plainsboro as a Radiologist.

- Two, her House, M.D. canon which will span the whole of Season 4 from when we first meet her up until her death. Prompts from this verse will be from that timeframe, and encompass her canon relationship with Wilson.

- Three, post-death, which is just as it sounds. I didn't want to dabble in the supernatural type thing, but I think it will be an interesting way to explore present House canon from Amber's point of view. This verse will be on the premise that Amber is a ghost and got stuck after her death. Much like House's hallucination!Amber, she knows she is dead and is just hanging around Princeton Plainsboro witnessing the canon events that rolled out during Season 5. If you're happy to have your muse interact with a dead Amber, she'll gladly tell you she's dead and sticking around for the fun. Basically, the purpose of this verse is for me to write her still from a canon view point, but obviously not as something that would ever happen in the show (unless, of course, it's in House's head).

Really just a bit of tongue-in-cheek fun because she's great to write, and she's an interesting character to dabble in.

ETRE LIBRE RPG

Amber will enter

etrelibre_rpg at the House, M.D. Season 4 canon point of post episode 4x11 “Frozen” right after she begins a relationship with Dr James Wilson; two episodes after House fires her and five episodes before her death. For obvious reasons, at this point in her canon she is unaware of her fate and because of it may find herself unable to leave Etre Libre.

HEAD TRAUMA RPG

Amber is a member of the House, M.D. RPG,

headtrauma_rpg. This is a House verse RPG, that is AU to House canon beyond the end of Season 4. The premise is it picks up after the bus crash at the end of Season 4, but in this universe, House and team were able to save Amber's life. She did not take the flu pills on the bus, but everything else stood. She had a long recuperation, but after she got back on her feet, Cuddy offered her a job at the hospital. Due to the strain of the bus crash and House's involvement, Amber and Wilson's relationship, however, did not survive.
